The purpose of the Greater Lewisville Community Theatre is to stimulate and promote education in the theatre and the performing arts by providing the highest quality of productions possible. GLCT endeavors to broaden and enrich the theatrical experience and participation opportunities for the citizens of not only Lewisville but the surrounding area. We encourage all who are interested to come sample what we have to offer, whether it be acting, directing, music, dance or the technical aspect of the theatre.
UP COMING SHOW
Greater Lewisville Community Theatre is proud to announce its first ever Live Music Benefit production, FOLLIES: The Concert. GLCT is committed to providing live accompaniment at its musicals each season rather than the more commonly found pre-recorded tracks. Live music adds an element of excitement to a production for the audience and allows greater freedom of interpretation to the actors.
Because of the expense of live instrumentation for its musicals, GLCT is building a fund specifically targeted to this purpose. FOLLIES: The Concert, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, has drawn a large all-star cast of actor-singers from across the DFW theater community, including leading performers from some of GLCT’s recent musicals, SPAMALOT, THE WHO’S TOMMY, RENT, HAIRSPRAY, JEKYLL & HYDE and SUNSET BOULEVARD. Four stellar musicians, Pam Holcomb-Mclain, M. Shane Hurst (director/music director), Steve Cullen, and Randy Linberg will provide live accompaniment.
GLCT is in its 31st season and refuses to be limited to “small” shows in its intimate 93-seat venue. It seeks to raise the bar with every season and production, which seems to be working. In the past four years GLCT has more than doubled the number of subscribers and its productions earned 22 Column Award nominations this year, winning eight.
