The Visual Art League of Lewisville (VAL) is a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization with community members who share an interest in the visual arts. Membership includes professional artists and art educators who exhibit their work state-wide and nationally, as well as individuals whose passions are the visual arts.
There are several levels of membership and benefits include monthly lectures and demonstrations, a newsletter, opportunities to exhibit in member shows and discounts on art classes and juried show fees.
Throughout the year art shows featuring individual artists and groups of artists are exhibited in the Gallery at Medical City Lewisville Grand Theater. A program is also in place to exhibit in local businesses such as restaurants, banks, and hotels bringing art to patrons of those businesses.
VAL’s major exhibition each year, Fresh Ideas, draws regional artists and features diverse styles, subjects, and media. Cash awards are given and a “People’s Choice” award is voted on by visitors to the show. This longstanding exhibition is recognized in in the region as providing a quality professional exhibit.
The Visual Art League extends invitations to accomplished artists and speakers of the Metroplex to make presentations at monthly meetings and additional special events to educate members and the community.
Additionally, the Visual Art League has provided judges for various City of Lewisville and school competitions and given demonstrations at local venues. The Visual Art League joins with the other members of the Greater Lewisville Arts Alliance in a cooperative effort to enhance the arts in the Lewisville area and participates in City events such as Holiday at the Hall and Western Days Festival.
The Visual Art League is located at the Medical City Lewisville Grand Theater (MCL Grand), 100 North Charles Street, between Main & Church Streets in Lewisville Old Town.
